Xiaomi Redmi Note 15 4G Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
Xiaomi Redmi Note 15 4G Overview
Xiaomi Redmi Note 15 4G - Endless Repetitions
The Chinese company Xiaomi releases dozens of smartphones every year, consistently enjoying popularity with millions of users. Some models truly deserve colossal sales, while others are purchased out of brand loyalty and fond memories of previously released phones in the lineup. Unfortunately, the hero of today's review falls closer to the latter group.
The appearance of the new device is difficult to criticize, considering its price tag. The modern photo module array, matte textured rear panels, and thin screen bezels with an integrated fingerprint scanner make the device beautiful and modern in appearance. The 6.77-inch AMOLED display doesn't impress with its image clarity, as a resolution of 2392x1080 pixels has long been the standard for this price segment. In other respects, the AMOLED panel is satisfactory. With a 120Hz refresh rate, properly calibrated color reproduction, and a peak brightness of 3200 nits, content plays smoothly, and you won't have to search for shade on a sunny day.
The specifications include a far-from-new MediaTek Helio G100 chipset, 6GB/8GB of RAM, and a Mali G57MC2 GPU. This combination doesn't impress with its performance, achieving only around 400,000 points in AnTuTu and no longer capable of adequately handling the most resource-intensive games. Fortnite or Zenless Zone Zero require significantly lower graphics settings and the occasional stutter. The processor lacks 5G support, and power efficiency is unremarkable by today's standards. Fortunately, any potential battery life issues are mitigated by the 6000mAh battery. It delivers around 10 hours of active screen time, even with 33W fast charging. Internal storage is available in 128GB/256GB variants, and one SIM card can be replaced with a MicroSD card.
Photography capabilities aren't particularly impressive. The secondary 2-megapixel portrait sensor was optional, and the 108-megapixel Samsung sensor lacks optical image stabilization. While high-quality daytime photos are still possible, evening shots will be riddled with noise and other artifacts. Stereo sound, NFC contactless payments, and an IR port for controlling home appliances add to the list of advantages, but the predecessor also had these. Ultimately, this is essentially the same device as before, albeit with a refreshed design and a higher price. Should you buy this device? The question is moot.
