ZTE Axon 50 Lite - a shame for the flagship line?

In the vast majority of cases, even the younger representatives of the flagship series on the smartphone market are distinguished by excellent functionality, expensive materials, assemblies and other competitive advantages that distinguish the devices from competitors in the price category. However, the Chinese company ZTE decided to unpleasantly surprise its fans by releasing a frankly mediocre phone with the Lite index.

The design of the new product does not contain anything special. The outdated design of the 8-megapixel selfie camera, not the narrowest display frames and the widespread use of plastic cause mixed emotions. Only the block of photo modules and the side fingerprint scanner look good. The IPS display has a modern FullHD+ resolution, but that’s where its advantages come to an end. There is no increased image refresh rate, the brightness margin is small for working with the mobile assistant in direct sunlight.

The UNISOC Tiger T606 processor and 4GB of RAM are a low-performance combination usually found in very inexpensive devices. Technical characteristics score a little over 200 thousand points in the AnTuTu benchmark, their gaming capabilities are extremely limited. You can’t dream of comfortable gameplay in resource-demanding Genshin Impact or Fortnite. Unfortunately, even in the less resource-intensive Android 13 interface, there are stutters, and sometimes applications open with some delay. But the size of the internal storage was increased to 256GB with a slot for MicroSD cards. More than a strange decision. A 5000 mAh battery is enough for one and a half to two days of operation of the phablet; the charging power is 22.5W, standard for the value segment.

The main photo modules are also low-cost. Simply useless 2-megapixel auxiliary sensors are combined with a 50-megapixel Samsung JN1 module, which copes exclusively with daytime frames. In this case, it is recommended to avoid events that are rich in dynamics, because an abundance of blur may appear in the photograph. There is only one speaker in the device, its volume is enough not to miss an alert, but the lack of bass significantly reduces the pleasure of watching videos and listening to music. NFC contactless payments will be an advantage for the buyer, but they will not make you forget about the many disadvantages of the controversial gadget.
