ZTE Nubia Flip Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
ZTE Nubia Flip Overview
ZTE Nubia Flip - mediocre implementation of a good idea
Modern smartphones in the clamshell form factor are far from the cheapest due to the need to use flexible screen technology and other structural features of the device. That is why such units are usually found in the flagship price category. However, the Chinese company ZTE decided to change this situation and release an inexpensive folding phone. Unfortunately, the developer had to save on many parameters of the new product.
The appearance of the review hero is more than stylish. The additional (466x466 pixels) and main 6.9-inch (2790x1188 pixels) AMOLED displays look interesting, the latter is also frameless, the metal and glass body fits perfectly in the hand, and the beautiful arrangement of the photo modules is also pleasing. The fingerprint scanner is located on the side, there are no complaints about the accuracy of its operation. The folding AMOLED panel is distinguished by excellent picture clarity, a current 120-Hz image refresh rate, and decent color rendition. The manufacturer did not forget to provide it with an effective oleophobic layer.
If the AMOLED screens turned out great, then such words can no longer be applied to the technical characteristics. Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 CPU, 8GB/12GB of RAM and Adreno 644 video adapter are a combination typical for the mid-price segment, giving about 600 thousand points in the AnTuTu benchmark. You can forget about the lags and freezes of the Android 13 operating system, but the gaming capabilities of the chipset are not so outstanding. Really resource-intensive projects like Genshin Impact or Honkai: Star Rail will require lowering the graphics presets to low-medium level. The permanent memory is allocated 256/512GB of ROM, there is no slot for MicroSD cards. The battery capacity has reached 4310 mAh, it is not difficult to get about seven hours of active screen time from it. The charging power was a modest 33W, so you will see the battery icon with the coveted 100% only after 70-80 minutes of being at the outlet.
When it comes to photographic capabilities, things are mixed. The 50-megapixel main photosensor does not receive optical stabilization, so evening photos are worse than those of opponents in terms of detail, and there is a lot of noise in them. The 2-megapixel auxiliary sensor is practically useless. Stereo sound also bypassed the gadget. NFC contactless payments and a 16-megapixel selfie camera can add to the list of advantages, but even the totality of the advantages of the device, its technology and reasonable price tag cannot distract from a number of critical shortcomings that will definitely affect sales.
