Doogee M30 Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
Doogee M30 Overview
The Doogee M30 – a smartphone with potential
The demand for rugged smartphones shows no sign of abating. Mobile phone enthusiasts are especially keen to consider entry-level and price-point devices that boast not only IP68 water resistance but also the ability to withstand drops from several meters. Today's review subject strives to complement these features with battery life and decent functionality. While it doesn't deliver on all fronts, the device is certainly worthy of attention.
The new device's appearance is far from ideal, but some people are particularly fond of massive, rugged monoblock designs with rubberized elements and a thickness of almost two centimeters. The wide screen bezels and outdated design of the 20-megapixel selfie camera can further mar the exterior. On the other hand, the variety of colors, the textured back panel, which is pleasing to the eye and touch, and the beautiful combination of a dual camera and a notch for a huge speaker can be considered. Peak volume reaches 135 dB, with audible bass, outperforming inexpensive Bluetooth speakers. The 6.88-inch IPS panel with a FullHD+ resolution is standard for this type of device. Image clarity is good, and there are no particular complaints about its smoothness (refresh rate is 120 Hz), but the maximum brightness of 600 nits clearly indicates that direct sunlight will not be the user's friend. To see anything, you'll have to seek shade.
The choice of technical specifications, including a UNISOC Tiger T620 CPU, 6 GB of RAM, and a Mali G57-MC1 GPU, is beyond reproach. While this isn't the best combination in terms of performance, it's sufficient for relatively stable operation of Android 16. Demanding games are out of the question, but games like PUBG Mobile are playable and even worthwhile with moderate graphics settings. The battery capacity has been increased to 8000 mAh, so you can expect 10-12 hours of active screen time. Wireless charging is not supported, and the wired 33W charger is hardly fast. However, you'll need to be near a power outlet for quite a while. The built-in memory is 256 GB, and it can be expanded with a MicroSD card.
The photography capabilities of the main 64- and 2-megapixel sensors are average, but not mediocre. Daytime photos are successful 90% of the time. Detail and color reproduction are preserved, with minimal noise, highlights, and blur. The situation changes significantly in poor lighting due to the lack of optical stabilization. Getting a high-quality evening shot is much more challenging. NFC contactless payments slightly enhance the device's appeal. Overall, this is a long-lasting, durable, and well-balanced IP68-certified device at a reasonable price.
