Honor 300 Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
Honor 300 Overview
Honor 300 - the further, the worse
In 99% of cases, the continuation of a successful smartphone brings a number of significant improvements in order to hold the audience's attention. However, sometimes situations occur when the manufacturer not only does not improve, but also worsens the model to maintain cost. And the hero of today's review became a victim of just such circumstances.
The appearance of the new product is slightly more interesting due to the variety of colors of the rear glass panels, an updated block of photo modules. The case itself is now a little more compact and ergonomic, there is moisture protection according to IP65 standards. It cannot be considered full-fledged, but the gadget will withstand some kind of fall into a puddle. Also, the thickness of the frames of the 6.7-inch screen with a built-in fingerprint scanner does not raise questions. But the plastic edging is not as pleasant to the touch as if it were made of metal. The AMOLED panel has an excellent resolution of 2664x1200 pixels for its diagonal, while the clarity of the picture is combined with its smoothness at a 120-Hz refresh rate, natural color rendition, and minimal PWM effect. The peak brightness of 4000 nits is more than enough for comfortable work with a mobile assistant on a summer day.
The technical specifications have essentially remained the same. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 CPU, 8 GB / 12 GB / 16 GB of RAM and the Adreno 720 video adapter are still hard to criticize for the ratio of performance and energy efficiency. The result of about 900,000 points in the AnTuTu test indicates the remarkable gaming capabilities of the chipset, allowing you to count on stable gameplay in resource-intensive projects like Fortnite with medium-high graphics presets. At the same time, there is no excessive heating of the monoblock, throttling is almost not noticeable. The battery, which has grown to 5300 mAh, usually lasts for a couple of days. Wireless charging has not appeared, but its wired analogue with a power of 100 watts helps out. The gadget needs to be located near the outlet for only 35-40 minutes to reach its full capacity. Of course, it could not do without an impressive amount of permanent memory of 256/512 GB.
Photo capabilities have been simplified. Thus, the telephoto lens, which was one of the main competitive advantages of the predecessor, has disappeared. The main 50-megapixel Sony IMX906 sensor with hybrid stabilization and a 12-megapixel wide-angle lens provide stunning detail of photos and video files for the price segment, but it is no longer so easy to capture distant objects. Stereo sound is loud, rich, although it lacks a little bass. Other advantages include support for 5G networks and NFC. Thus, we have a still relevant, but somewhat simplified device compared to the previous phablet.
