Huawei Nova 14 Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
Huawei Nova 14 Overview
Huawei Nova 14 - a bestseller with nuances
It seems that devices from the Chinese company Huawei will forever remain without support for Google services. On the one hand, this is a significant problem for part of the audience, because many applications do not always function correctly, on the other hand, the corporation is trying to atone for the aforementioned shortcoming with an amazing ratio of the price of new products and their functionality, technical characteristics. The hero of today's review will not be an exception.
The appearance of the gadget has noticeably changed. An interesting design of a circle of photo modules with several LED flashes, a variety of colors and textures of the back panels made of tempered glass, thin display frames with a built-in fingerprint scanner make the device more beautiful than most of its opponents. The 6.7-inch AMOLED panel cannot be considered outstanding, but it has a smooth image at a refresh rate of 120 Hz, and natural color rendition, and a minimally manifested PWM effect, and an oleophobic coating. Perhaps the image clarity could be higher (resolution of 2412x1084 pixels). Peak brightness of 2000 nits has already become the standard for the price segment.
The HiSilicon Kirin 8000 processor is an extremely good, although clearly not the most productive solution in the price category. Together with 12 GB of RAM and the mali-G610 video core, it scores about 600 thousand points in the AnTuTu test, thanks to which everyday work with the HarmonyOS operating system takes place without visible lags. Games like Genshin Impact will also be available, but it is recommended to limit the graphic settings to low-medium presets. Throttling is also present, although its values are not critical. Autonomy is good thanks to software optimization and the use of a 5500 mAh battery. You can count on about 9-10 hours of active screen time. Fast charging with a power of as much as 100 W is also pleasing. The permanent memory is allocated 256/512 GB.
The photo capabilities are controversial in some respects. Thus, the 12-megapixel telephoto lens with a three-fold optical zoom received hybrid stabilization, but the 50-megapixel main module for some reason does not have it. As a result, the evening photos taken with it are not so beautiful. The wide-angle 8-megapixel lens is very simple, you should use it rather during the day. We also praise the high-quality 50-megapixel selfie camera, which many competitors definitely do not have. The stereo sound does not disappoint either. It is loud and fairly balanced. NFC contactless payments are available, but moisture protection is only IP65-standard. The overall impression of the phone is more than positive, but the buyer will still have to put up with a number of its unpleasant disadvantages.
