Oppo Reno 16 Overview
Oppo Reno 16 – When There's Something to Attract Buyers With
The Chinese company Oppo still lags behind the smartphone market leaders in popularity, but the problem remains largely in its marketing. Most of its phones offer excellent value for money and compete head-to-head with the best in their price segment. The hero of today's review fits this description.
The new device's appearance will appeal to even the most discerning user. A clean black color scheme sits alongside the original textures of white and lilac. The tempered glass back panel features a neat triple camera setup, while the front boasts thin display bezels with an internal fingerprint sensor. The compact body also boasts IP68 water resistance. Perhaps the only thing missing to achieve the perfect exterior is a metal frame. The 6.32-inch AMOLED panel boasts a resolution of 2640 x 1216 pixels, excellent for a diagonal size. The impressive image clarity is complemented by a smooth 120Hz refresh rate, a responsive touch panel, a maximum brightness of 3500 nits, and decent color calibration.
Performance is ensured by specifications such as the latest MediaTek Dimensity 8550 CPU, 12/16GB of RAM, and a Mali G720MC8 GPU. This balanced combination distinguishes itself both by its emphasis on AI and by its excellent benchmark results (approximately two million points in AnTuTu). Gaming can be configured with high or highest graphics presets, while the frame rate remains around 60-120 frames per second, depending on the game. The battery capacity has been increased to 6700 mAh, which translates to a respectable 10-12 hours of screen-on time. Wireless charging is reserved for the more expensive devices in the series; only an 80W wired version is available. Internal storage options range from 256 to 1024 GB.
The camera capabilities are impressive. The main 200-megapixel Samsung ISOCELL HP5 sensor and the 50-megapixel periscope telephoto lens with 3.5x optical zoom feature hybrid stabilization and handle even evening photo sessions well. Details in captured objects are barely lost, and noise and blur are less noticeable. The 50-megapixel wide-angle lens, however, is less powerful and is recommended for daytime use. Stereo sound is present, and volume and frequency response balance are satisfactory, though not exceptional. 5G and NFC are supported, but there is no global version yet. Therefore, you'll have to accept the lack of FDD-LTE B7 (4G performance is mediocre in some CIS and European countries) and the presence of untranslated apps and services. But the advantages listed above and the reasonable price make these shortcomings irrelevant.
