OUKITEL C62 GT Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
Oukitel C62 GT Overview
Oukitel C62 GT – Improvements Not Everyone Will Appreciate
The Chinese company Oukitel continues to experiment with the low-end smartphone market. However, the developer's moves aren't always entirely correct. Today's review subject is an improved version of a previously released model, but the improvements are unlikely to please everyone.
The new model's appearance has become noticeably more attractive, though it still has its usual drawbacks. For example, the 5-megapixel front sensor has an archaic design, and the display bezels are quite thick. However, it's hard not to appreciate the attractiveness of the new textures on the rear panels, the advanced technology of the secondary 1.81-inch screen (displaying the time, notifications, and supporting mini-apps), and the up-to-date photo module. However, it seems the manufacturer would have been better off improving the main 6.88-inch IPS display. The HD+ resolution still isn't sharp enough for the selected image quality, and the 400 nit peak brightness makes content difficult to see in direct sunlight. Color reproduction is also problematic, as colors appear washed out. Only the 90 Hz refresh rate offers a high image smoothness.
The technical specifications are now more powerful, but the difference is still negligible. The combination of a UNISOC T615 CPU, 4 GB of RAM, and a Mali G57MP1 GPU scores around 260,000-270,000 points, which is sufficient for more or less stable operation of Android 16, but still insufficient for running relatively modern games. Freezes, stutters, and other issues will be noticeable even in Call of Duty Mobile. The battery capacity is now 5150 mAh, so the phablet's battery life is approaching one and a half to two days of use. There's no fast charging, so with a 10W output, you'll have to leave the phone plugged in for a long time. Storage is limited to 128GB with a microSD card slot.
But the photography capabilities remain unchanged, which is a shame. The 13-megapixel main camera from Omnivision lacks optical image stabilization, and several 0.3-megapixel secondary sensors are good for document shots, but you can forget about artistic photography. Surprisingly, for some reason, there's no NFC contactless payments. This is a truly critical flaw, which, along with the compromises with the IPS panel and processor, is unlikely to make the device a bestseller.
