Realme 16T Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
Realme 16T Overview
Realme 16T – a smartphone for fashionistas and nothing else?
The Chinese company Realme knows how to surprise. For some unknown reason, the manufacturer's mid-range smartphone range includes both very balanced and competitive models and downright strange devices with unclear intent. Looking at the subject of today's review, the target audience for the new device is generally clear, but the competitive advantages offered are rather puzzling.
The device's appearance is quite nice, but the wide bottom bezel significantly spoils the impression. The colors and textures of the rear panels are stylish, and the moderate price allows for a plastic frame. The side-mounted fingerprint scanner and the original photo module assembly with a mini-mirror also look attractive. The idea is interesting, but it doesn't offer much help in capturing selfies. The 6.8-inch IPS display is a noticeable downgrade from the AMOLED panel of its predecessor. Peak brightness dropped from 3000 to 1200 nits, and the resolution dropped to a wholly unsuitable 1570x720 pixels for such a large screen. The only positives are the relatively natural color reproduction and smooth content at a refresh rate of 144 Hz.
Technical specifications include a MediaTek Dimensity 6300 CPU with 5G support, 6GB/8GB RAM, and a Mali G57MC2 GPU. This combination won't impress with its 400,000-point AnTuTu score, but it provides stable operation of Android 17 with occasional lag. Gamers won't appreciate this chipset, as resource-intensive games only run smoothly at minimum graphics settings, if at all. However, battery life reaches an impressive 10-15 hours of screen time thanks to an 8000 mAh battery. Wireless charging isn't available, of course, but there's a decent wired charger with a 45W output. Storage options are 128GB/256GB, and there's a microSD card slot.
Photography isn't impressive. The small 50MP Sony IMX852 main sensor without optical image stabilization and the 2MP depth sensor are only capable of capturing high-quality, artistic shots during the day. Even in cloudy weather, photos will be marred by noise and blur, never mind evening photo sessions. Stereo sound is present, but not loud, and bass is almost nonexistent. NFC contactless payments aren't available in all regional versions, so it's recommended to check before purchasing. Ultimately, the device isn't worth considering unless you're already enamored with its exterior.
